Carolina Hurricanes Dominate Game 4
We had 666 ratings before the Carolina Hurricanes vs. Devils game — bad omen energy — and the game started that way with Frederik Andersen giving up one he’d want back. But honestly, that was on another defensive breakdown.
The Hurricanes bounced back the way they have all year and absolutely crushed the Devils.

After game three, I said:
If you’re going to lose, lose big.
You expect a team’s best effort after that kind of loss. That’s exactly what happened after the first 10 minutes of Game 4.
Freddie held it together early. The defense held them to one goal. And then Marty Necas happened. You and I said all year long he was quietly their best player. Aho is a star, Svechnikov was an All-Star, but the leap Necas made? Massive.
Jordan Martinook is racking up absurd numbers, but the story is the depth. That’s the Hurricanes’ fastball: speed, possession, keep-away hockey, defensive structure, and goaltending good enough to let the system do the work.
This game had big FU energy, and I loved every second.
Devils Goaltending Is Shaky
Yes, it was 8–4, but anyone who watched knows that didn’t tell the whole story. The Hurricanes hit posts, generated shorthanded goals, and exposed New Jersey’s incredibly shaky goalie situation.
If the Hurricanes apply pressure early, the Devils fold. That’s exactly what happened in the second period of Game 4.
Rod Brind’Amour talked about Necas afterward — and when Rod praises you, he means it.
Hurricanes Playoff Outlook
Watching Dallas vs. Seattle, checking the bracket, thinking:
- Boston isn’t scary for the Canes
- The Rangers were the problem matchup
- Colorado plays Carolina’s style
Now the path looks… open?
Florida is confident and dangerous.
But the Canes look like the veteran group now.
This isn’t 2002 with Hall of Famers everywhere.
Not Crosby’s Penguins.

I’m calling BS.
This feels like:
1. Michigan power play vs. Juwan Howard
His AD is sending a message.
2. Michigan collective issues
They lost Hunter Dickinson to Kansas — that’s a red flag.
3. Administrators refusing to rubber-stamp athletes
Yes, Michigan is a serious academic school, but spare me the idea that an elite D1 athlete suddenly couldn’t get in.
Michigan has denied transfers before — like Terrence Shannon Jr.

This feels different.
Michigan’s academics play the best defense in the state — but that’s not the whole story.

Jeremy Roach Returns to Duke
Roach didn’t get a combine invite and is returning to Duke.
That puts Jon Scheyer in an interesting spot — the Blue Devils essentially have two full starting lineups now.
Duke will be preseason No. 1.
